Like the famous original, the CO₂ version is distinguished by perfectly balanced recoil characteristics. The low barrel axis ensures better control and accuracy in rapid firing. The APX holds 19 4.5-mm BBs in its magazine and fires them with a maximum of 3 joules, double action only. Power is supplied by a 12-g CO₂ cartridge that is inserted via the interchangeable backstrap.
